Waffles:
1 box NOMU MiniMakes Spiced Cake Batter Mix
1 large egg
1/4 cup (60 ml) oil
125ml milk, plus a little extra if needed
Caramel sauce:
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, cubed
¼ cup cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
To serve:
Vanilla ice cream
Flaked almonds (optional)
For the waffles, whisk together the egg, oil and milk in a jug. Place the cake mix in a mixing bowl and mix in the wet ingredients to form a smooth batter. Depending on the consistency, you can add a little more milk to thin it out.
Preheat your waffle maker. Once hot, dollop in some batter – not too much as it will rise and overflow. Cook until golden brown. The waffles will still be very soft.
Remove and place in airfryer for 10min at 150°C until crisp and delicious.
For the caramel sauce, place the sugar and butter in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the mixture comes together and the sugar is completely dissolved. Carefully add in the cream and vanilla and continue to cook over low heat until thickened.
Serve the warm crispy waffles with scoops of ice cream, a generous drizzle of caramel sauce and some flaked almonds for crunch.
